One of the best combinations with Chapathis or puris and even with pani
puri...
Coming the to the recipe...
Ingredients :
(Serves two)
Chickpeas- 1 cup
Onion – 1
Tomato – 1
Red chillies – 2
Chana masala or Garam masala – 2 tsp
Half a Lemon
Coriander
Raw Onions for garnishing
Method :
- Soak the chickpeas overnight and pressure cook it. Drain the water and save it for using it in the gravy.
- Fry Onions in a pan. Once they are transparent, add tomatoes.
- Once they are mushier, add it to the mixie along with 2 tsp of cooked chickpeas. Grind it to a smooth paste. This step is optional. You can directly go it to the next step.
- Add the ground paste to the same pan. Add the water which in chickpeas was cooked. Fry it for 2 to 3mins. Now add some salt and chana masala powder.
- Add the boiled chickpeas. Let it boil for few more minutes so that the gravy is blended well with the chickpeas.
- Squeeze a lemon onto it and garnish with cilantro and raw onions if you like. Serve with roti or puri.
My Notes :
If you avoid the grinding step, you would have to use corn flour to
thicken the gravy.
