Bored by eating the same dosa again and again ?If you like the taste of tomato, you will really love this dosa as it doesn't have tomato chunks like other recipes.

Try this tomato dosa for a change. I love tomatoes . I can have  any dish that is made with tomatoes
We really don't need any chutney for this as the dosa itself will carry the flavour of tomato. We can have it with dosa podi or any chutney if  required.
This is an instant dosa. It doesn't need fermenting. We can make dosas as soon as we have the batter ready. Sounds great right ??

Makes 10 - 12 dosas

1 cup raw rice.
a fistful of poha or a few methi seeds
3 to 4 tomatoes(Large Vine Tomatoes)
3 or 4 red chillies

  • Soak the raw rice along with urad dal and poha for 2 hours.
  • Grind the batter to a smooth paste. Add only little water while grinding as we are going to add tomatoes later.keep this batter aside.
  • Add  raw tomatoes to the batter one by one instead of water.
  • The batter for tomato dosa is ready.
  • Heat the tawa and pour a laddle full of batter. Spread it and put little oil.
  • Once it is cooked, flip it over . Hot tomato dosa is ready. Serve it with chutney.
  • We can refrigerate the leftover batter and use it for a couple of days.

My Notes :

  • We add poha or methi seeds while soaking raw rice to get crisp dosas. It also helps giving a red color to the dosa instead of the white ones when we use the non stick pan.
  • We can add poha even to the original dosa batter also for the same purpose.
